I’ve heard from a few members of the Rider Nation who are worked up about the suggestion that Duron Carter may now play at linebacker against Calgary if needed.
First of all, Chris Jones has been in the crosshairs before and doesn’t seem to give public reaction much thought — which may be a good trait to have in this market.
Yet, if I’m a fan I’m more concerned about the offence.
A Rider quarterback has not thrown for more than 200 yards in a game since Zach Collaros did it in week one. Only once this year has the Roughrider offence scored more than one touchdown in a game, and that was last week against Hamilton.
This Rider team can’t bank on a punt return for a touchdown and a pick-six every week, especially now that there are six straight western opponents on the schedule.
The best defence is going to have to be a good offence if this Rider team is going to hold its own during the tough stretch of games ahead.
