The search for a teen who went missing in the waters of Saskatchewan’s Turtle Lake has ended in tragedy.
The 15-year-old boy reportedly fell out of a boat Tuesday in the area of the lake near the hamlet of Kopp’s Kove, located about 100 kilometres north of North Battleford.
RCMP divers spent the balance of Wednesday searching the water.
In a media release issued Thursday morning, they reported the boy’s body was found just after 7:15 p.m. Wednesday.
No further information was provided regarding the identity of the deceased, the cause of death, the time of day when the boy fell off the boat or whether any of alcohol or speed were factors in the incident.
An RCMP spokesperson said the investigation remained open, but was not able to say whether an autopsy had been scheduled.
