The Saskatoon SPCA says a kitten is recovering after reportedly being tortured by a group of teens.
The animal protection society posted to Facebook Tuesday night with an update on Yogi, a kitten brought to the shelter earlier this month.
In the post, staff reported witnesses had seen a group of teens tie Yogi to a swingset on July 9, then douse her with pepper spray.
The teens allegedly fled when they realized they’d been spotted, with a witness calling the SPCA’s emergency line.
Yogi was reportedly taken to the Western College of Veterinary Medicine for treatment before being moved to the SPCA shelter to continue her recovery.
A Saskatoon Police Service spokesperson confirmed they got a report of the incident on July 9.
Officers did not find any suspects or persons of interest by the time they arrived at the scene.
One suspect was described as an Indigenous man in his 20’s wearing pants with stripes down the sides and a black and white bandana covering his face.
He reportedly had mid-length hair and a distinctly deep voice.
Anyone with information was asked to contact Saskatoon police.
