The team returned to the practice field Sunday after a one week bye. When speaking to media, head coach Chris Jones said he would take his time with Zach Collaros and that David Watford will be packaged in as Brandon Bridge gets the start in Hamilton Thursday.
It all sounds reminiscent of July 5.
Collaros should not be brought back until totally ready, most fans agree. However, many are still puzzled at Jones’ use of Brandon Bridge and David Watford two weeks ago.
The quarterbacks had less than 150 yards in passing in a game in which Saskatchewan completed only 14 passes.
At one time, the Riders switched quarterbacks in the middle of a drive.
Throw in the fact that a 1,000-yard receiver from a year ago is on defence and it adds to the confusion.
Quarterbacks strive to be starters. It’s tough to empower a leader on offence, if that quarterback is constantly looking over his shoulder wondering if he is still the leader.
