Battlefords RCMP are asking people to be aware of fraudsters claiming to represent a popular Saskatchewan lottery.
Multiple complaints have been sent to RCMP about calls from people claiming to represent STARS Air Ambulance, telling recipients they have won new vehicles, as well as cash prizes ranging from $30,000 to $175,000.
RCMP said fraudsters have been known to take advantage of this scam in the past and will try to manipulate people into sending a form of payment to claim the prize.
They are reminding the public that anyone asking to send a cheque, money order or payment of any kind to claim a lottery prize is a scam.
The STARS Lottery Saskatchewan website should be checked to see if an actual prize was won.
Anyone with information on this scam is asked to call Battlefords RCMP at 306-446-1720.
