Saskatoon police are applauding the efforts of a neighbour whose tip-off led to an arrest.
Police said someone called in around 8 a.m. Saturday to report seeing a man rifling through vehicles in a parking lot in the 500 block of 4th Avenue North.
Officers responded and were able to confront a man matching the description.
Police said the suspect did not obey instructions initially, and squared off with an officer.
The man was allegedly holding a knife in one hand and a pair of pliers in the other.
Police used a Taser, but it missed the mark. The suspect was apprehended by another officer on scene.
No one was injured.
A 41-year-old man will be appearing before a Justice of the Peace on Saturday facing charges that include theft, mischief, assaulting a police officer and several breaches of court orders on unrelated charges.
