RCMP say a member fired a gun while dealing with suspects in a May 16 car chase in Meadow Lake Provincial Park.
At 2:50 p.m. RCMP responded to a call about a vehicle fire along Highway 4 just south of Dorintosh.
The fire spread and a water bomber in the area helping with another fire was able to extinguish the blaze.
Through their investigation, RCMP discovered the vehicle was stolen in Meadow Lake earlier that day.
At 3:20 p.m. mounties responded to reports of a silver car being driven erratically in Meadow Lake Provincial Park.
Police from two communities responded after the driver refused to stop for RCMP.
The vehicle eventually stopped on Highway 21.
At some point, while police attempted to arrest the suspects inside the Hyundai Accent An RCMP member discharged their firearm.
The driver sped off again travelling eight kilometres before stopping.
Police arrested five people, three men and two women ranging in age from 32 to 22.
Each of them now faces ten charges including arson, possession of a prohibited weapon and possession of stolen property.
The driver faces two additional charges, driving while disqualified and disguise with intent of committing an indictable offence
All five suspects remain in custody with a May 22 court date.
Because an RCMP officer fired a gun during the incident an internal investigation is underway and a request for an independent observer was made to the provincial government.
