The City of Saskatoon has outlined its priorities for roadwork in 2018, and some major thoroughfares are set for a facelift.
Idylwyld Drive North is scheduled for repaving, while Circle Drive over 33rd Street is slated to be fixed-up, along with Victoria Avenue.
The city is also planning intersection improvements at Taylor Street and Arlington Avenue.
Overall, crews are scheduled to improve 206 lane kilometres of roadways around Saskatoon. They’ll also be replacing 20 kilometres of sidewalks.
Angela Gardiner, acting general manager of transportation and utilities, said in a release it’s important for drivers to be aware of the work and obey signage.
“This is shaping up to be another busy construction season so we would like to remind drivers about the importance of respecting work zones, for their safety and for the safety of the people working in them,” she said.
The city also reaffirmed two new bridges will open in Saskatoon this fall. The new, wider Traffic Bridge will once again link Victoria Avenue to the downtown core, while the North Commuter Bridge will give residents in the northeast a shortcut to Marquis Drive.
