A massive power outage left people in the dark until late Tuesday night.
SaskPower first reported the outage around 5:40 p.m.
Customers in Saskatoon, Duck Lake, Wakaw, Warman, Osler, Martensville, Radisson, Alvena, Shellbrook, Vanscoy, Hafford, Krydor, Hague, Laird, Dalmeny, were all impacted.
A SaskPower spokesperson was unable to confirm an exact number of homes left without power Tuesday, but told 650 CKOM roughly 6000 calls came in about the outage within the first hour.
SaskPower reported electricity was fully restored by just after 11 p.m.
In an email Wednesday morning, a SaskPower representative told 650 CKOM the outage was caused by an equipment failure which led to a small fire at a transmission structure.
Initially, crews rerouted power to get service restored for as many customers as possible. However, workers weren’t able to get electricity back to some areas until repairs on the structure were completed.
