Pointing a replica handgun in the Massey Place area early Saturday morning ended with a dog bite and charges for a 28-year-old man.
In a media release, police said an officer parked on Northumberland Avenue near 33rd Street West saw a man walking and pointing what looked like a handgun around 12:30 a.m.
When the officer got out of his cruiser and tried to talk to the suspect he turned and started swearing at the officer and eventually pointed the gun at him.
At that point, the officer deployed his K9 partner and the suspect pointed, what turned out to be a replica gun, at the dog.
The police dog took the suspect to the ground and he was arrested.
The 28-year-old man was treated for a dog bit and taken to police headquarters.
