The winners of the Saskatoon Hospital Home Lottery are going to need some time to familiarize themselves with their new home.
Norman and Josie Shulhan’s first time inside the Greenbryre Estates grand prize show home appraised at $1.7-million was on Thursday afternoon, the day they were awarded winners of the home lottery.
“I’ll have to take a tour because I haven’t walked through it,” said Norman as he looked around his new home he knows nothing about.
The Saskatoon couple has been buying tickets for a variety of home lotteries in the province for the last 30 years, but this was the first time they didn’t tour the house before buying a ticket.
The 87-year-old Norman said that it’s the first time he’s ever owned something he knew so little about.
“I don’t think it’s ever happened before,” he said with a chuckle.
There was no rush to make any moving arrangements. The two said they would “play it by ear” before deciding if they would keep the home or sell it.
The Shulhan’s also take home $25,000 as part of their winnings.
Norman had parting words of wisdom for all prospective lottery players next year.
“You never know unless you buy a ticket.”
Brian Olson was the winner of the $377, 877.50. A full list of winners will be posted on the lottery’s website on April 6.
