It’s hard not to be a fan of Patrik Laine of the Winnipeg Jets.
First of all, his talent level is amazing. This 19-year-old Finn is challenging Alex Ovechkin for most goals scored this season.
His quick shot and ability to find the open ice within Winnipeg’s offence is a treat to watch.
I am also in awe of his respect for the game. When asked about winning the Maurice Richard trophy, Laine said it would be a dream come true because Richard was one of the “greatest goal scorers in the world at the time.”
Laine was born in 1998 in Finland, yet has a tremendous sense about what a Canadian hockey hero means to the sport.
I can’t honestly say I’m a die-hard Winnipeg Jets fan, although it would be great to see that loyal fan base experience a deep playoff run.
I can say that Patrik Laine is someone I can cheer for, for a number of reasons.
