With spring quickly approaching, time is running out for Saskatchewan anglers this winter season.
The deadline to remove ice shacks and shelters for lakes south of Highway 16 is March 15. For shacks north of Highway 16, it’s March 31.
If shelters are not removed, owners could face prosecution, in addition to having the shelter and its contents confiscated.
Government regulation requires ice fishing shelters to have the owner’s name, address and phone number on the outside in legible letters that are at least 2.5 centimetres — around an inch — high.
Ice fishing season closes on March 31 in southern and central Saskatchewan, and on April 15 in the north.
