The Calgary Hitmen scored three straight goals in the late stages of a 6-5 win over the Saskatoon Blades at the Saddledome Tuesday night.
The Blades had a 2-1 lead early in the second period on goals from Braylon Shmyr and Brandon Machado.
Shmyr scored his second of the game, and 24th of the season, late in the second period to tie the game at 3-3.
The Hitmen would regain the lead when Vladislav Yaryemenko scored late in the middle frame to give the Hitmen a 4-3 lead.
Calgary’s Hunter Campbell scored at the 9:20 mark of the third, then Hitmen forward Jake Kryski scored what proved to be the game winner 42 seconds later to give the home side a 6-3 lead. Chase Wouters and Max Gerlach scored third period goals for Saskatoon, but the comeback fell just short.
The Blades still lead the Prince Albert Raiders by seven points for the final playoff spot in the eastern conference.
Saskatoon hosts Regina on Saturday and Moose Jaw Sunday at SaskTel Centre.
