A Saskatoon commuter got a nasty surprise Thursday morning when a man claiming to have a gun reportedly tried to steal their vehicle.
Police said the driver was out starting their vehicle around 8:15 a.m. on the 1700 block of Coy Avenue when a man approached and tried to steal it.
The driver tried to get help from a family member in their home, at which point the suspect claimed to have a gun.
The suspect then tried to drive away, but the vehicle stalled.
Police said they arrived to find the suspect trying to steal a different vehicle.
The suspect was arrested after a short foot chase. Police said they found him in possession of a sawed-off .22 calibre.
No injuries were reported.
