Pelican Narrows RCMP are requesting an external investigation after a man was found dead in one of their jail cells Monday.
Police said the 44-year-old man was found unresponsive around 9 a.m. in the RCMP detachment’s cells, and was pronounced dead at the scene.
RCMP have asked Prince Albert police to lead an external review into the circumstances surrounding the man’s death. The Ministry of Justice will also appoint an independent observer.
The man’s name isn’t being released by RCMP at this time.
