CFL commissioner Randy Ambrosie is, if nothing else, a man of action.
Ambrosie has fixed many things since joining the league, including the schedule. By extending the CFL’s regular by seven days (on
the front end) the league has added an additional bye week for all nine teams.
This should be welcome news to players and the CFLPA. It was also interesting to see the schedule released before the Christmas season.
Because of that the league is back in the news cycle.
Nowhere in Canada is the topic of the schedule more talked about than in Saskatchewan. Some like it, some don’t. There are some oddities.
It is strange to see the Riders start the season with five straight eastern opponents before facing a team from the west. It’s not perfect and never will be in a league where there are an odd number of teams.
To those that don’t like the schedule, remember this. The Riders could play in a Saskatchewan farm field at midnight, and we’d be there.
