Stampeders coach Dave Dickinson sent a message to his team right after the Western Final win over Edmonton one week ago.
When speaking to the media about last year’s loss to Ottawa in the Grey Cup game, Dickinson said lessons in how to manage time and energy during Grey Cup Week were learned.
I can only interpret that to mean that some players didn’t have the required focus to finish the job last year after a 15-2-1 regular season.
Calgary is again favoured to win the Grey Cup, just like they were one year ago.
Upon landing in Ottawa quarterback Bo-Levi Mitchell said he would be spending more time in his room this year. That example appears to be motivating others. Right after winning the special teams player of the year award, Stamps kick returner Roy Finch said “This is over for me, we are focusing on the Cup.”
Words and body language suggest that the Stampeders will not be denied on Sunday.
