Let me start with some full disclosure.
I wasn’t paying much attention to the Oilers/Blues game last night. After all, we are just 21 games in to an 82 game regular season.
However, a quick glance at social media quickly showed that panic has set in with Edmonton fans and media members.
The Oilers were destroyed in St. Louis 8-3 in a game that coach Todd McLellan couldn’t explain.
In a long five month regular season, blow out losses happen from time to time. However, the Oilers have lost five of six and have been outscored 18-7 in the last three games.
In the last three losses, the Oilers have been outscored by three or more.
The recent addition of Mike Cammalleri was designed, in part, to lend a veteran presence.
I still believe that was a good move. However McLellan, and perhaps even GM Peter Chiarelli, may have to make some ice time and more roster adjustments to get these underachievers playing to potential.
