A 15-year-old boy has been charged with manslaughter in connection to a deadly shooting in Meadow Lake earlier this week.
Kegan McCallum, 17, died in hospital after being found with a gunshot wound at a home in the city on Nov. 13.
RCMP were called around 10:30 a.m. Soon after, paramedics took him to hospital where he was pronounced dead.
The shooting prompted the City of Meadow Lake to put the community’s pool and arena on lockdown until early Monday evening.
RCMP previously said there was a person of interest in the case and provided a description without a name or photo. They initially said the male was armed and dangerous.
On Thursday, officers arrested a 15-year-old boy at a home in North Battleford around 10 a.m.
The teen, from Meadow Lake, has been charged with manslaughter, possessing a loaded firearm and public mischief.
RCMP said the boy and McCallum knew each other. They are not seeking any other suspects at this time.
The teen cannot be identified under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
He is scheduled to appear in Meadow Lake Provincial Court on Nov. 20 at 9:30 a.m.
Meadow Lake is located about 300 kilometres northwest of Saskatoon.
