'Considering the circumstances ... this is best-case scenario,' Cole Cusitar said.
Saskatoon commuters should plan to avoid a key intersection in the heart of the city’s downtown core.
The City of Saskatoon expects to have the northbound lanes of 1st Avenue North between 22nd and 23rd street shut down for up to a week in order to allow for emergency repairs to a water valve under the roadway.
Westbound lanes of 22nd Street East will also be closed between 1st and 2nd Avenue and there will be no left turns allowed onto 1st Avenue South or 22nd Street East .
Traffic will be detoured around the work site.
In a media release, city officials asked drivers to avoid the area if possible.
Sidewalks will remain open in the area.
Information on how the work will impact bus routes is available on the City of Saskatoon website.
