Even though it happened over ten years ago, Herm Edwards’ “you play to win the game” news conference still resonates.
Edwards’ quote was ringing through my head Wednesday as Chris Jones spoke about putting Duron Carter in at defensive back for Friday’s match up against the 13-1 Stampeders.
There are no shortages of opinions on what the team should do with Carter on the heels of a mid-week fight at practice.
Some believe Carter is a problem and the Riders would be better off without him.
Many people I have heard from have said the media is off base about a simple fight at practice, and that he should play. Not many said, “Duron Carter should play in the secondary!”
Rightly or wrongly, success in professional sports is based on wins and losses. The question of whether or not it was the right thing to put Carter on the field and at corner won’t be answered until Friday night at about 10 o’clock.
