An early morning fire in Saskatoon’s Riversdale neighbourhood sent five people to hospital on Sunday.
Saskatoon Fire said they received multiple calls at 2:59 a.m. regarding the multi-unit home at 216 Avenue F South. When the first crews arrived three minutes later, smoke and fire could be seen from the upper floor.
Eight people were still inside the home and were helped out by firefighters using hoses to protect the evacuation route.
Saskatoon police said three children and an adult suffered minor smoke inhalation, while another adult remained in hospital Sunday morning in serious condition.
The blaze was brought under control by 3:29 a.m. with an estimated $160,000 in damages.
