As you will hear over the next few days on the Green Zone with Rider reporter Arielle Zerr, CFL commissioner Randy Ambrosie has a passion for this league that is strong, and a managerial quality that may push this league to new heights.
This week he again made the right decision with regards to Johnny Manziel. On Wednesday, the league announced that Manziel will be eligible to play in the CFL in 2018.
The decision to allow someone who was once charged with domestic violence, and was once suspended for violating the NFL’s substance-abuse, was well thought out. Conditions will need to be met if Manziel wants to play and stay in the CFL.
There has to be a balance between second chances and integrity in the Canadian Football League.
The commissioner who has the experience of being a former player — and being in charge of the “fan’s league” — appears to have a strong understanding of that.
