It’s tough to sweep back-to-back games against the same team in the CFL.
In the last decade the Saskatchewan Roughriders have done a terrific job against the Bombers in the Labor Day Classic/Banjo Bowl showdowns.
Saskatchewan has claimed five of the last 10 series’, four have been split, meaning Winnipeg has swept just once in the last 10 years, and that was last season while Chris Jones was rebuilding.
While there is reason for the Rider Nation to be optimistic about Saturday’s game at Investors Group Field, there are two sources of motivation for the Bombers.
1) Winnipeg has won five of its’ last six games. Four of the wins came against eastern teams, and one against battered Edmonton, but like the Riders, wins of any kind generate confidence.
2) The Bombers fell short of a major come back last week. Winnipeg had a terrible start against the Riders last Sunday, but they did prove that they can stop the Riders and move the ball against Saskatchewan.
Throw in a pro-Bomber crowd, and I’ll take Winnipeg for the win……34-27.
