Saskatoon police used a taser on a man early Thursday morning after finding him sleeping in bushes off a roadway on the western edge of the city.
According to a release, the police airplane spotted a fire and people in the bushes near Dalmeny Road and 33rd Street around 2:30 a.m.
When officers arrived, they found a 40-year-old man sleeping and woke him up.
He reportedly became combative, picking up a large stick and making threatening statements to officers.
The release said the man refused to obey police, and a taser was deployed.
MD Ambulance cleared the man’s health, and he is now facing a charge of assaulting a police officer.
