Two years ago I had a suggestion for the CFL’s senior VP of football, Glen Johnson, about video review rules.
You know me, I’m always here to help.
After I gave him my opinion, Johnson told me I had a good thought and said, “It’s important that we listen to everyone.”
I was shocked and encouraged by that response. In what other professional sports league would a fan or a media member have that access to a league vice president? The average CFL ticket buyer has a lot of clout.
Earlier this year, football fans spoke up about the delays of coaches’ challenges and commissioner Randy Ambrosie was quick to make a change.
Earlier this week, fans made their feelings clear about the Tiger-Cats hiring of Art Briles. Fans played a role in the team reversing course.
The CFL is driven by a television network, sponsors and – just as importantly – by fans. As a result customer satisfaction to all is imperative.
That’s a good thing.
