Just when we thought the CFL season couldn’t get any better, the Winnipeg Blue Bombers gave fans a thrilling show on Thursday night, in a 41-40 walk off win over Montreal.
Bombers quarterback Matt Nichols may not have the reputation of a Darian Durant, a Bo Levi Mitchell or a Mike Reilly yet, but in front of close to 26,000 he put on a performance many will be talking about for a long time.
Winnipeg trailed by 12 points with less than two minutes to go when Nichols led Winnipeg to 69 and 58 yard touchdown drives. The game ended with a touchdown as the clock struck zero.
The story lines in football this week were about concussions and how bad CFL video challenges are. Both issues need to be addressed.
However, ten of the 21 CFL games this season have been decided by three points or less.
The product is better now than it’s ever been.
