39-year-old woman is facing charges of unlawful confinement and extortion following a police investigation over the weekend.
Saskatoon police said a woman reportedly got a text message Saturday afternoon demanding money for the safe release of a family member.
Officers were able to identify the suspect and located her in the 600 block of 20th Street West.
The victim, who had been assaulted without serious injury, was also found safe.
A 39-year-old woman is charged with two counts of uttering threats to cause bodily harm, two counts of extortion, and one count of unlawful confinement and breaching a court order.
The investigation is ongoing.
