This summer Saskatchewan Provincial Parks are a little bit more accessible thanks to specialty wheelchairs designed for the beach.
The wheelchairs have three oversized tires to help navigate through sand better and make the chairs float in water.
According to officials, five of the wheelchairs were purchased in the spring from the U.S. at a cost of $2,500 to $3,000 each.
The chairs are based at Saskatchewan Landing, Moose Mountain, Good Spirit Lake, Candle Lake, and Meadow Lake for now but can be moved between parks to accommodate visitors.
To make sure one of the wheelchairs is available people are asked to call one week before their visit to reserve it.
