A 40-year-old man from the U.S. has been sentenced to 80 years in prison after being charged with child pornography involving young girls from Saskatchewan.
Robert Ables from Hutchins, Texas, pleaded guilty in March to one count of receiving child pornography and two counts of producing it.
The investigation initially started Nov. 21, 2015, when the Saskatchewan Internet Child Exploitation Unit received a tip about a girl being exploited via social media.
According to RCMP, Ables would convince girls to send nude photos via social media, and would black mail them to send more by threatening to spread the previously-sent photos around.
Investigators were able to track down the suspect through his online username.
Ables was arrested in December 2016, after U.S. authorities searched his home.
