Six days after being named CFL commissioner, Randy Ambrosie has had to issue his first statement about a suspension to Hamilton’s Will Hill.
Hill’s actions have been well documented. He shook an official on Saturday night at Mosaic Stadium. Hill was also fined for punching an opposing player on the same play.
Ambrosie said that Hill “crossed a line that should never be crossed in sport at any level”.
I believe the CFL’s biggest challenges are off the field. However, this is where having a former player in the commissioner’s chair is a blessing.
There is a common bond among current and former professional athletes that many of us will never understand. General managers, coaches and players will be able to relate to someone that has competed in pro football at a high level.
When someone such as Ambrosie says a line has been crossed, all the Tiger-Cats can do is concur.
