Darian Durant made his CFL exhibition game debut with the Montreal Alouettes Thursday night.
The stats look impressive. Durant was seven of 12 for 113 yards and he threw two touchdown passes in a quarter of action.
Ottawa rested many of their starters on both sides of the football, and it won’t be as easy to move the football in the regular season.
However, in watching his interaction with players such as Tyrell Sutton, Ernest Jackson and BJ Cunningham in the 38-5 Als’ win, Durant’s leadership abilities were again at the forefront.
Great quarterbacks take command of a huddle. Having watched Darian Durant closely for more than a decade, Durant also takes command of a team from a players’ point of view. His ability to galvanize a team spills over to players on both sides of the football.
While there is no guarantee of a Grey Cup appearance with Durant in 2017, it’s almost a given that – thanks to Durant – this team will be better than its seven-win season from a year ago.
