Tributes have begin pouring out online for a Saskatoon teen killed in a collision in Alberta.
Lauren Spence, 16, was pronounced dead Friday at the scene of a two-vehicle crash on Highway 21, about an hour northeast of Calgary.
650 CKOM has since learned she was headed to an Irish dance competition with her mom and grandmother.
Beiseker RCMP reported that a 67-year-old woman had to be airlifted from the scene, while a 43-year-old woman was taken to hospital in Calgary by regular ambulance. Both were reported to have suffered serious injuries.
The driver of the other vehicle was taken to hospital in the nearby town of Three Hills, with what were described as non-life threatening injuries.
Police reported that conditions were poor in the area around the crash, due to heavy hail and rainfall.
Saskatoon Public Schools reported that counsellors were sent to Marion Graham Collegiate on Monday morning to help any students who might require support. A letter was also sent home containing advice for parents on how to talk to their kids about the tragedy.
Spence’s dance school posted a tribute describing her as a positive role model who always took time to help younger students.
