Two men have been charged with break and enter and robbery charges after an incident in Regina early Saturday morning.
Just after 5 a.m., police received a call from a man who said he’d been beaten up and robbed in the 700 block of Rae Street. According to police, a witness also indicated one of the suspects had a gun. Police said that tip, in addition to a risk assessment of other circumstances, was why SWAT and crisis negotiators were brought in.
Police said four people left the house and were taken into custody without incident.
But it took several more hours of negotiation – and eventually tear gas – to get the remaining four men out of the home. They were arrested around 12:30 p.m. without further incident. Police also said a pellet gun was found inside.
A 29-year-old Regina man and a 25-year-old Fort Qu’Appelle man were arrested. They appeared in Provincial Court on Monday morning on break and enter and robbery charges.
Two men and two women were also arrested on unrelated charges.
