Cleanup efforts continued in Regina Tuesday after up to 1,000 litres of oil spilled over the weekend.
A tank leaked the oil in a back alley on the 300 block of Quebec Street.
The city said it’s still unclear who owned the oil.
The oil spilled into the storm sewer system but the city said water has not been affected.
“We are quite confident that there has been no oil within five kilometres of Wascana Creek,” said Lisa Legault, director of solid waste and environmental impact with the city.
Containment booms, which are surface barriers, that stop the migration of the oil have been installed.
The owner of the tank could face fines or penalties as a result.
