A fire Tuesday afternoon at an Avenue J South home has caused $15,000 in damage.
Firefighters arrived at the home on the 200 block around 2:15 p.m. and found heavy black smoke coming from the back of the building.
An investigation found the cause was an overloaded electrical circuit in the kitchen.
The only person inside when the fire broke out made it out safely.
