Police say they cannot speculate on whether weather was a factor in a fatal collision on Highway 22 Tuesday morning.
Esterhazy RCMP were called to a crash involving a semi-tractor trailer, a tow truck and two other vehicles. It happened before 9 a.m on the highway between the community of Gerald and a potash mine, about 23 kilometres east of Esterhazy.
Police said the man driving the tow truck was pronounced dead at the scene. Another man was taken to hospital with “undetermined injuries,” according to RCMP.
The tow truck driver’s family has been notified. RCMP will not be releasing his name.
Police were asking drivers to stay away from the area, as Highway 22 remained blocked off for several hours.
As of 8:14p.m. the highway was reopened.
