Saskatoon police are trying to find out who is responsible for a bogus armed robbery report that resulted in a large police presence Friday afternoon.
Police got a call just after 5:30 p.m. from an anonymous person who said a man armed with a shotgun was in the kitchen of a restaurant in the 2400 block of 22nd Street West.
Numerous police units responded. Upon arrival they observed a person running from the area that matched the description that the caller had provided.
Police chased the suspect who ran into traffic and was hit by a car traveling on 22nd Street.
The suspect got up and continued running and was eventually arrested at gunpoint a short distance away.
No weapon was found on the 17-year-old, however the suspect did have an outstanding warrant for his arrest for breaching a court order.
After speaking to staff at all the restaurants, police determined the call was a hoax and are now trying to find out who made it.
Anyone with any information regarding this incident is asked to call the Saskatoon Police Service at 306-975-8300 or Saskatoon Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
