While the construction crane was supposed to be up, developers on the Capital Pointe project want people to know construction is continuing.
Last November, developers said people can expect to see the crane in January. As February comes to an end, the crane has yet to be seen.
Project Director Greg Black said it’s because the development had to apply for a new permit from the City of Regina because of a small redesign to their underground parking plan.
He said while they were working in the fall, they had to adjust one corner of their plan due to a power line from the NCO building running through the site. On another corner, the City of Regina has the right of way to build street lights at the intersection.
“Those two things required us to redesign our parking allocation because we don’t want to give up any of our underground parking spaces,” Black said. “They’re pretty valuable in Regina.”
Black said it was a day-to-day process but couldn’t give a date for when the crane can be expected.
“The city’s been extremely cooperative with us, they’re being very helpful.”
According to Black, close to $8 million has been spent in the last year on construction. He said once they begin to build upwards, it should begin to go smoothly.
Black said they haven’t faced any significant delays and that people should be able to begin moving in at the end of next year.
