It’s a boy.
Lachlan Kai Russell is Saskatoon’s New Year’s baby.
“I’m just overwhelmed with how special he is,” said mom Vanessa Russell. “He’s just my bundle of joy.”
He entered the world at 12:08 Sunday morning at Royal University Hospital, weighing a healthy seven pounds and 10 ounces.
“I just wanted a healthy baby,” Vanessa said. “I didn’t really care if it was a boy or a girl.”
Vanessa said it’s quite a competition between the nurses on who’s baby would be born first.
“All the nurses really want the New Year’s baby,” she said. “It was fun to see them competing last night.”
Despite being Canadian dad doesn’t want him to be the next Wayne Gretzky.
“We’re a big soccer family, so hopefully he’s a soccer star,” joked Lachlan Russell.
