Sask. sets new natural gas record during extreme cold spell

The extreme cold temperatures had Saskatchewan cranking up their thermostats in record fashion.
 
Sask Energy reported a new 24-hour natural gas consumption record was set in the province on Friday.
 
The crown gas provider delivered 1.33 PetaJoules of natural gas to customers, three per cent higher than the record set earlier this year in January.
 
A PetaJoule is a unit of measurement equivalent to one million GigaJoules of natural gas – the average home in Saskatchewan consumes about 105 GigaJoules of natural gas annually.
 
It marks the fourth consecutive winter that a new record has been established.
