Retail businesses are being reminded to use caution when taking credit card information over the phone after two women suspected of credit card fraud were arrested on Thursday.
According to a release from the Moose Jaw Police Service, a man requested to purchase gift cards over the phone for the second time in less than a week. The business owner became suspicious that the card might be fraudulent and contacted the credit card company, who froze the account.
When the two women came to pick up the gift cards, the Moose Jaw Police Service was called. According to the release, the women were found to be part of a larger group attempting to defraud retail businesses in Regina and Moose Jaw.
One of the women was charged and released with Credit Card Fraud and Breach of an Undertaking.
