A man who escaped the Saskatoon Correctional Centre last month has been captured in British Columbia.
According to Saskatoon police, Travis Funk, 34, was arrested Oct. 21 near the community of Merritt, B.C.
Funk got away on Sept. 24 while he was in the exercise yard. He allegedly escaped by scaling a razor-wire fence and got into a waiting SUV.
A corrections ministry spokesperson said they are reviewing security at the jail.
“There’s some construction going on in Saskatoon to strengthen that security fence in places as well,” Drew Wilby said.
Funk was arrested along with a 24-year-old woman who is suspected of aiding his escape.
Funk was on remand for non-violent crimes, including fraud and weapons-related offences.
