For Murray Wood, Easter brings to mind grandma's practical advice about repurposing, and some of life's little lessons.
While many have already announced their intention, Tuesday is the day people wanting to run in the upcoming municipal and school board elections can make it official.
The nomination period runs from Tuesday to 4 p.m. on Sept. 21 – people running for office will need to file their paperwork in that time.
Candidates for mayor will need the signatures of 25 people to support them, city council candidates will need signatures from 25 people in their ward, while school board candidates need the signature of 10 people.
The election will be held on Oct. 26, with advance polls from October 19-22. There will also be mail-in ballot available.
“We are trying to make it as easy and as straightforward for people to exercise their right to vote,” said Jim Nicol, Chief Legislative Office, City Clerk, and returning officer for the election.
