As summer slowly winds to a close, the mercury rose to record levels in southern Saskatchewan.
Environment Canada said the temperature in Weyburn reached 36.3 C, breaking the weather record for Aug. 22 set in 1944 at 35.6 C.
Monday’s scorcher is also the hottest temperature reached in Saskatchewan so far this summer.
Before that, the record high in the province for 2016 was 34.4 C in Indian Head on May 5.
