The government isn’t reversing its decision to make cuts to some social assistance programs, but it is making moves to better help those impacted.
About 2,700 people are facing a reduction in the financial help they receive because government wants to simplify the system.
The change was supposed to take effect Sept. 1 and Oct. 1 and instead government is slowing down the process.
The Ministry of Social Services is going to work with everyone affected individually and assist them as these changes come into effect.
It will likely take several months for all clients affected to be accommodated.
