The weather has forced the cancellation of Saturday’s I Love Regina day.
In a news release, the city explained it has postponed the event after after multiple weather forecasts have predicted inclement weather overnight and for much of Saturday.
It is expected that rain will hit the city overnight, continuing into the morning. There are also forecasts citing significant risk of thunderstorms during Saturday morning and strong wind, up to 45-60 km/h.
“I Love Regina Day has gone ahead in the past with minor weather issues,” noted Mayor Michael Fougere. “However, with thunder, lightning and strong wind predicted and the extremely volatile storms in the area recently, we prefer not to take a chance with the safety of exhibitors and guests.”
The city is attempting to reschedule I Love Regina Day in August, depending on the availability of Victoria Park and the participation of exhibitors.
