A public funeral for slain infant Nikosis Jace Cantre will be held Saturday afternoon.
According to a family member, the six-week-old boy was found injured in his playpen last Sunday morning.
Police attended the home on Waterloo Crescent around 7 a.m. on July 3. Officials took the infant to hospital where he later died from his injuries.
A wake was held Friday for Cantre at the new gym in George Gordon First Nation.
The funeral is scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday at the same location.
The public is welcome to attend.
Cantre’s death marks Saskatoon’s ninth homicide of the year, and the second involving a baby victim.
A 16-year-old girl, not related to the family, is charged with second-degree murder for her alleged involvement.
