As electronic Roughrider tickets were flying through cyberspace Wednesday morning, dozens made the trek to Mosaic Stadium to get theirs in hand.
People like the Smiths – mom Pam, daughter Carmen, and grandma Priscilla – were at the ticket office before 10 a.m. when the single-game tickets went on sale. They managed to get tickets to the last game of the season, and the last at the current Mosaic Stadium.
“We’re coming as a family, there’s 15 of us,” said Pam.
The family has a connection to the stadium, its patriarch helped to put up the Plaza of Honor in front.
“Our Grandpa just passed away, so it’s kind of to commemorate him, and to go as a family for him,” said Carmen.
The three women agree – the end of this season is going to be the end of an era.
People were waiting in line for everything from Labour Day tickets to the last game of the season, to specific match-ups.
Jessica Hicke managed to get tickets for the Labour Day Classic, the first one she’ll get to go to. She’ll be there with her boyfriend and his family.
“We’re having a family event for it, especially because it’s the last season here.”
One man who was at the office to move his season tickets said he was looking forward to all the events planned for the year, as well as a winning season.
